As part of its drive to offer fully automated services, the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) has recently launched two eServices on its website, www.dewa.gov.ae, to facilitate inquiry of utility bill, either by entering consumer account number through DEWA website or by sending SMS text messages. Saeed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of DEWA, said that the launch of these eServices is in line with their efforts to prompt eTransformation in the department. The two services will facilitate electronic inquiry and payment of utility bill, saving both customers and the department a lot of time and energy. The first service enables customers to inquire about their utility bill through the DEWA website simply by entering their consumer account number in the designated field. The second service allows customers to get instant DEWA billing information by sending an SMS text message to 4488. The text message should read: Dewa (space) Bill (space) <Account no>. The service has a charge of 60 fils per message. Al Tayer confirmed that the new services are the first among a batch of eServices that will be implemented this year. These eServices will be offered in parallel with the traditional cash payment through DEWA offices from 7.30 am till 8 pm, all days except Friday, Enoc and Epco petrol stations, banks, and DEWA website, www.dewa.gov.ae.
